South Fork Wind:
Maps of PFAS Contamination
South of East Hampton Airport
South Fork Wind tested the soil along its construction
corridor only near the surface to avoid PFAS contamination.
South Fork Wind has concealed soil test results for “PFAS samples [taken]
[…] directly above the groundwater table” (see HWPWP, Apr 2021).
South Fork Wind was required to test the site of a house fire
where firefighting foam was used. Still, no one has seen any PFAS test results.
Total PFAS contamination at Airport Well EH-19A = 8,388 ppt.
It exceeds the Michigan plume. South Fork Wind is upgradient within 1,000 feet.
PFAS Contamination moves with the groundwater level.
The groundwater level north of Wainscott Pond fluctuates 5 feet.
PFAS Contamination moves with the groundwater level.
The groundwater level at East Hampton Airport fluctuates 8.1 feet.
PFAS contamination travels with groundwater, which rises and falls from 5 to 8 feet.
South Fork Wind has not tested the lower levels of its planned excavation for PFAS contamination.
PFAS contamination in groundwater will adsorb into South Fork Wind's concrete duct banks & vaults.
South Fork Wind's underground infrastructure will prolong and exacerbate the PFAS contamination.
